Using Facebook To Increase Sales And Your List
By: Sandi Krakowski
I recently installed a plugin on my blog and was completely blown away at the results. Opt ins increased significantly, sales increased and the amount of new friend requests that came in on Facebook nearly tripled in less than a week.
This plugin allows me to be exposed to be people all over Facebook that I might never have known existed. More importantly, it connects me to people that never even knew I existed….. or my blog.
This plugin takes about 15 seconds to install and activate. It is easy to use, everyone enjoys using it and gets a psychological sense of fulfillment every time they do!
What more could I ask for? I have been asking myself that question over and over again!
So… what plug in is it? The "Facebook Like" plugin. But before you make a mad dash to your dashboard in WordPress, let me say this. Not all Facebook like plugins are created equal.
The one I am using is called: fbLikeButton
The author of this plugin is: Dean Peters
When you go to the plugin section of your WordPress dashboard be sure to type in fbLikeButton (all one word with no spaces) and then look for this author. Install and you are all set.
You want this plugin to show above and below all pages and posts. This plugin is a dream come true for marketers!
When I post a new article to my blog, this new feature is sitting prominently above my content. It shows the familiar Facebook thumbs up button and says, "Like" and next to it how many people like this.
Here's the deal…. this little thumbs up button creates a psychological connection between you and your readers at a level that is like no other. It also gives them a sense of belonging, like they did their part by giving you a thumbs up. Some of your readers will seek to 'thumbs up' every article on your entire blog so that they can feel as though they have done their part! It goes without saying that creating this kind of culture or tribe is exactly what you want.
It was started on Facebook, it occurs every single day with users on both computers and smartphones. People "like" things people say, share and post all day long without even thinking!
Now…. this wonder of a button is available to you as a WordPress blog owner.
But it doesn't stop there. Oh no…. it gets even better!
When someone 'likes" what you have written, it connects that title from your blog onto their Facebook profile page. It is now viewable by all of their friends.
Here's what it looks like on the profile page:
Sandi likes Cooking Up Big Dough In Business | Blogging | What Is Blogging | Blogging Made Easy | WordPress Blog on arealchange.com.
The message that appears on the profile page of that person says that they not only 'like' this article, it gives your specific keywords that you created in your tagline in WordPress also. On top of that (as if that wasn't enough to celebrate!) it gives the URL of the blog that the article came from.
Yes…. ponder that a moment.
And…. because we are wise marketers who seek to verify and quantify everything that we do, let's do the math.
Mary has 2349 friends
Mark has 345 friends
Susan has 1309 friends
James has 389 friends
MaryJane has 786 friends
and James, he has 2319 friends.
If you have these six people who like your article you are now being advertised to:
7,497 people with the click of a button.
It didn't cost you a penny.
It didn't require hiring staff.
It didn't require any extra hours.
It's a beautiful thing!
When these 7497 people are viewing your article that their "friend" likes they might opt to not only read your article (clicking through) but they could also desire to become your "friend" as well!
What if only 10% of these new people who have never met you before click through to just take a peek at your article.
That's 749 new clicks through to your website.
Let's say on the lower side only 5% click through. That means 374 new clicks through to your website.
Google will love this. YOU should be celebrating this and I'll say it again…. it's a beautiful thing.
This has got to be one of most amazing free advertising tips I have ever seen in a long time.
It's non-salesy, it's not cheesy and it works!
So….. for today's newsletter… I just gave you a tip that could increase your readership, your friends on Facebook, your connections, your network and your sales volume in under 15 seconds.
My final words….. get it done! Go install NOW the fbLikeButton.
If you enjoyed this tip, you might seriously want to consider what I share in the last 3 hours of my 6 hour On Demand Course of WordPress for the Business Owner. In that last 3 hours I give hours of tips like this.

This is awesome – but can it be used on other than wordpress sites?
Thank you Sandi! What a breeze it was to get that on my site. An awesome marketing tool. So much appreciated.

Sandi, because of you and this awesome tip about the “like” button…drum roll please….
I wrote my very first blog entry today and have the fblikebutton on there already! I am so tickled and having a blast. Right now, I am just playing and learning and not getting stressed but I am moving forward.
Blessings,
Michelle
Great Article Sandi! I love social plugins
I am a perfect example to this post. As I
landed here from a friend liking this very post.
Hi Sandi,
I have been meaning to add the Like button to my blog for quite some time but it was just another one of those things on my list. Thank you for this much-needed kick in the butt. I did it! You can see it in action at http://www.suzannedoyleingram.com (and hopefully you’ll “Like” it!).
Looking forward to tonight’s call,
Suzanne
Awesome post…
When you really look at the power of a like button
its amazing. I did not know how much value this
had on my business until I started to actually using
some months ago it . Thanks for breaking down
the magnitude this can have on what we do.
What a powerful little tool! Love it. and so so easy to install.
Thanks for doing the math for us, Sandi. Thoroughly enjoying this course. Inch by inch, anything’s a cinch.
This is great information Sandi. It is beginning to connect, but I have a long way to go to bring it all together. Thanks for coaching.
Thank you Sandi again for this very interesting tips you’ve shared with us. May the Lord God grant you more success and good health in life. God bless you.

Hi Sandy, I noticed you’re also using “SexyBookmarks” from Sharaholic. This plugin now integrates FB “like” functionality as well Google+1. Might be nice to save from installing 2 pluggins – save a step. Both approaches achieve the desired effect though.
WOOHOO!! Aren’t YOU a rockstar John!
Thanks so much!
Sandi
Thanks for all the great info! I’m absolutely new to all this and still trying to figure out what I’m doing or plan to do “when I grow up!” : ) Plan to get my website up and running soon.
Awesome! What I am not clear on is how to have a business on Facebook. I’ve been told that you have to do something special (what??) and can’t use an ordinary Facebook account when you have a business. Just wondering before going forward…..
Shareaholic rocks!!! Nothing better to use on WordPress. Thanks Sandi for explaining the “numbers” of sharing through FB, etc.
